Can You Play Roller Coaster Tycoon on Windows 7

rgharper911

Since it was released about eight years ago, I don't believe you'll be able to run it in Windows 7 and the game developer has almost surely not updated it for Windows 7; but you could check with the game developer to see if there are any updates for it.

Hi,

Since this game is not compatible with Windows 7 however, you may try the following steps.
Step 1: Run in compatibility mode.
a. Right-click the icon for the game.
b. Click Properties.
c. Click the Compatibility tab.
d. Check the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode.
e. Select the version Windows XP SP2.
f. Click OK.

Step 2: Disable desktop composition.
a. In the Compatibility mode tab go to the section labeled settings.
b. Check the box for Disable desktop composition and Disable Visual themes.
c. Click OK.

Step 3: Run as admin.
a. Right-click the icon for the game.
b. Select the "Run as admin" option.

You can find more information about compatibility modes in the articles below:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-is-program-compatibility

Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards:

Hi.

I have been trying the same proceedure for a  DVD program that worked 2/06/2011 but will not work now, no matter what I do.

From an other forum here, it looks like I need to restore my computer to a day before the updates and see if the DVD program works again.  If so, I have to add each update till the program fails and try to understand WHY...

Thanks for the good advice, but it appears the powers-that-be are changing what is now compatible in Windows 7 (Professional in my case).

Hello,

These are the steps to try when you find a program that is not compatible with Windows 7.
If the program is not compatible, then you may try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

Use the following steps:

1) Right click on the Program

2) Click on Properties

3) Click on Compatibility tab

4) Select Run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or whatever operating system the program was running successfully.

Refer to the link here: Make older programs run in this version of Windows

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If you run Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and execute your software in Windows XP.

If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware Player (www.vmware.com) or any other 3rd party virtualization software and install a separate copy of Windows XP (either Home Edition or Professional) for that purpose. You can find virtualization software free of charge that will run on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Marilyn
